Hello! My name is Giavonna Harrison and I am a 22 year old stay-at-home mom, aspiring model, and (fingers crossed) your next Miss Nebraska USA. I was born in Omaha, NE and raised in Bellevue, NE by the strongest people I know. My parents were never married and separated when I was a baby, and while some may look down upon that, I think that was the biggest blessing because I ended up with two bonus parents that I love more than anything. Like most, I haven’t always gotten along with my parents, but now, as an adult and a parent myself, I realize a lot of their struggles, like my own, were due to a lack of community and an underwhelming amount of support.

My goal isn’t only to prove to myself that I am more than just someone’s mother, partner, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, or friend. I want to prove to other parents and guardians that they are more, that they are supported, and that the struggles we face as parents aren’t taboo. We can and should be talking about all of the hardships that may come up throughout your parenthood journey and address how to handle them and what resources you can utilize to help you and your family feel the love and support we are all entitled to.

My mission is to give a new meaning to “It takes a village.” With the Miss Nebraska USA platform, I would be able to create the village we all deserve.
